The Art of Entertaining: Salt & Pepper

Salt & Pepper – pretty much the spice of life! We can count on it being on present at just about every dinner table gathering you can imagine.
That being said, thought it was important to share the golden rule of salt & pepper for your next dinner party.

Always pass the salt & pepper together. Short & sweet, but a sometimes forgotten etiquette tip. If someone says “Please pass the salt” – pass both anyways! Remember – it’s like they are married, joined, they never leave each others side.

Along the same lines, a wonderful heirloom gift that I received at an oddly strange age, was that of a crystal salt cellar. Grandma had a set for her table and I simply loved to play with the little spoon & pour the salt back & forth between the spoon & cellar. Made for an exciting stocking stuffer for me as a child – and I simply adore it now!

Grandpa had unusual love for pepper too. He covered his food – they could have had stock in pepper and done quite well. So I’m currently seeking the perfect pepper mill to accompany my little salt mill – send any suggestions my way!

I’m an old soul based in Atlanta, GA and mom of 3 with a deep love of all things from the past with a story to tell, on a mission to keep heirlooms around for another generation - whether it be a tradition, splattered family recipe, or historic home.
