I am excited to share my take on this home trend as of lately, the bar. cart. I put a vintage spin on the bar cart to make it fit in in my farmhouse home, turning an old antique cabinet into a new home for our liquor cabinet. Read along to find out how we did it, and some of our vintage essentials.
Just in time for Father’s Day I wanted to show you how to create a vintage-inspired bar cart. If you hop on Pinterest, you’ll find hundreds of photos filled with inspiration for creating a bar cart of your very own. The trendy white and gold carts are just beautiful, but not quite my aesthetic. I wanted to create a darker more moody bar cart and do what I do best, find a new use for an old piece.
I picked up this gorgeous old metal cabinet at an Atlanta treasure, Bobo’s Intriguing Objects back during one of their warehouse sales. And I found this vintage wooden crate while out sourcing, and it just worked perfectly as the center piece for the bar cart. It is just perfect for holding your favorite cocktail glasses and gives the arrangement a little height amongst all the liquor bottles and smaller tools, with just the perfect amount of rustic, lived-in charm. And, when you’re entertaining, it can always double as a serving tray too.
I love to fill my bar with essentials like St. Germaine and a few different liquor options, always having a dark and light option. Because we tend to stick to the classic cocktails around here, I also always have the staples on hand like a good tequila, vodka, bourbon, gin, etc so that we can hope to serve any of our guests comfortably with their drink of choice.
The perfect way to simplify your bar cart even more is using a beautiful vintage glass decanter to store your liquors. You can really find some beautiful ones at vintage stores, estate sales and Goodwill. Folks seem to be getting rid of these right and left these days so I’m always seeing them and snatching them up when I can.
I also love to stock up on old cocktail tools, like bottle + wine openers, shakers, ice buckets, mint julep cups and beyond. It really just makes it feel more comfortable, lived-in and authentic when you’re settling in for a good cocktail and conversation with friends.
